As people can’t move outside to enjoy delicacies so they have taken refuge in their kitchens. This lockdown made them aware of their hidden talent of preparing various cuisines. However, cooking delicious meals not only releases their stress but also satiates their taste buds. Here, we have five good dishes to cook during this lockdown.
Basil Butter Garlic Bread
1 loaf French Bread, a bunch of basil, 4 tbsp unsalted butter, 2 cloves garlic, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 green onion, 1and ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper
How to make
Let’s start the cooking by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Prepare basil spread by processing basil, green onion, garlic, butter and olive oil in a food processor. Then add salt and pepper to it. Now, apply this spread on both the halves of the bread loaf. Put these bread halves together. Now, bake them by wrapping in a foil for 10 minutes. Moving to final few steps, unwrap the foil and apply parmesan cheese on halves. Then, place the halves in the oven and bake them at 500 degrees F till it gets brown.

Pyaz Ki Kachori
2 onions, 3 tsp oil, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp fennel, a pinch of asafoetida, 1 chilli (finely chopped), ½ tsp ginger paste, ¼ tsp chilli powder,2 tbsp coriander, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp dry mango powder, ¼ tsp sugar, ½ tsp salt, ¼ gram flour, ½ tsp coriander seeds
2 cup plain flour, 1 tbsp semolina, ½ tsp salt, 2 tbsp ghee, water, oil
How to make
Let’s begin it with dough kneading. Now, prepare the stuffing by cooking all the ingredients in oil. After that, take a small ball of dough, flatten it from middle and fill one tbsp of stuffing. Bring the edges together and close them. To check whether you are on the right track or not, make a kachori of that ball. Take a pan, pour oil in it and put it on medium flame. Place the kachori in the oil and fry till it gets golden brown. If the first kachori is prepared successfully, make all kachoris in the same manner. Serve them hot with green chutney.

2-litre full cream milk, ½ cup sugar, ½ tsp cardamom powder, 20 chopped pistachios, 2 tbsp saffron milk
How to make
Be ready to make yummy kulfis by taking milk in a thick bottomed utensil and put it to boil. As the milk gets boil then stir it. Put in on low flame and stir it for half an hour. Add sugar and keep mixing so milk gets thick. After 5 minutes, add saffron milk, cardamom powder and chopped pistachios. Keep it boiling for 5 minutes then switch off the flame. And allow it to cool. Soon after it cools down, don’t wait and pour milk in kulfi moulds and cover it with cling wrap and freeze them for 6 hours. Gently remove the kulfis from moulds and garnish it few more chopped pistachios.

2 and ½ cup idli batter, ¼ tsp mustard seeds, 1.5 tsp oil, a pinch of asafoetida, 2tbsp chopped onions, 4 tbsp sesame oil, salt, 2 tbsp grated coconut, 2 tbsp of curry leaves
How to make
In a pan, heat 1.5 tsp of oil. Then add mustard seeds followed by asafoetida and onions. Fry them till colour gets changed. Turn off the flame and add grated coconut in a pan and stir it. Pour this seasoning on idli batter along with curry leaves. Moving ahead, let’s put little oil in each hole of paniyaram pan. The moment oil heated, pour the batter. Apply oil on the batter and let paniyaram cooked from both the sides. Remove them from pan. Enjoy little balls of paniyaram with coconut chutney.

100gm plain flour, 1 egg, 100 gms butter, ½ cup water, few drops of vanilla essence, a handful of chopped walnuts, ½ tsp baking powder, 100gm powdered sugar, a pinch of baking soda, a pinch of salt
How to make
Start with preheating the oven to 180 degrees C. To make a yummy cake, we need a perfect batter. Take sugar, butter, vanilla essence and egg in a bowl and beat all the ingredients till they get frothy. Further, sieve all the dry ingredients baking powder, salt, baking soda and plain flour together. Fold them gently in the mixture. Add some walnuts in the cake batter. Pick a mould and grease it with butter. Pour the batter in a mould and place it in the oven. Your tasty cake will be ready within 25-30 minutes.
